Lennon

This was a painting that I did of John Lennon, given my interest in the Beatles, Lennon’s story, and music in general. Because the Beatles are such an important part of British history, I painted an abstract flag in the background. I chose not to exactly replicate the Union Jack because the Beatles, while originally from England, were the first band to be a truly global phenomenon. I also used the blocks adjacent to Lennon’s ears to represent musical tones. Lastly, I used red on the glasses to depict the sadness that the world had when Lennon was assassinated. Lennon's song Imagine is one of my favorite songs, and I painted the painting while listening to it and imagining the possibilities.
