The Blades of Wolfe Island

The Blades of Wolfe Island

In the summers, I spend a lot of time sailing in Lake Ontario. One of the spectacular scenes is seeing the windmills on Wolfe Island which help provide energy to our electrical grid. I created this painting after seeing one of these towers up close. I placed the house very near to the windmills to think of the controversy that exists between the people who live on the island and the companies that are placing them there. I also put circles on the upper right of the painting to signify the importance of technology and scientific advancement to man. Lastly, I also put in some clouds in the painting to signify that windmills are moving us forward into an era that makes us less reliant on carbon energy.
