Bay of Fundy
Bay of Fundy
This is a painting I created of the Bay of Fundy. I have a personal connection to the area as my mother grew up in Saint John. I spent many summers in the area as a young child and I fondly remember my time there. This particular setting is of a fishing village with a lot of bright houses. I also used a lot of pale hues to depict the sky as it if often quite foggy in the Bay. In the upper right I placed circles to convey the concept of technology influencing the landscape as there has been a lot of offshore drilling in the Maritimes as energy companies look for natural gas and oil. To me this search for carbon energy sources looms overhead potentially changing the serene nature of these fishing villages forever.
