Let There B Light
Let There B Light
This is a painting of cataract surgery, which I have had a chance to watch. My father is an eye surgeon and I have been able to observe him do procedures and watch eye surgery. This painting has been published in the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. It shows two instruments in the eye – one of which uses high frequency sound waves to break up the cataract. I used bright light centrally to highlight the importance of proper lighting in the operating room and the importance of seeing light for our own lives. Because of the importance of light for both the patient to properly see and surgeon to perform the operation, I called the painting “Let there B light.”
